SATURDAY 10 DECEMBER 2011, 7.45pm, St Cecilia's Hall Carole Cerasi (fortepiano) – Haydn Sonatas Celebrated fortepianist Carole Cerasi plays a programme of Haydn Keyboard Sonatas interspersed with readings from Haydn’s letters. Cerasi is well known as a recording artist and her first disc of music by Elizabeth Jacquet de La Guerre won a Gramophone Award. Her latest release, a CD entitled ‘Haydn and the Art of Variations’ recorded on clavichord and the Schantz fortepiano in Bath Holburne Museum, has been widely praised and a disc of Scarlatti sonatas is eagerly anticipated. She is professor of harpsichord and fortepiano at the Guildhall School of Music and combines this teaching with performances around the world. Cerasi is a sensitive and intelligent player, with a real feeling for Haydn – Richard Maunder, Early Music Review
